The Landlady – Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl has portrayed the female character in this story as a crone. There are three main ways that women get portrayed in books and movies: these are crones, innocent caring women like Madonna, or girls that throw themselves at any guy and try to seduce them like eve. This then makes people believe that this is how all women are and it causes women to not believe that they can be something else. This portrays women in a way that makes men think that women are crazy and can’t be trusted. This is always how women get portrayed and it will never change unless people start portraying men and women in the same way. How often have you seen a man portrayed like this? Hardly ever right? This is because they give men the heroic and active characters portraying them as manly and good people.
